Completing the Diploma of Agriculture through Rural Biz has set a solid foundation for Hugh Richard to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. Starting out working on a property north of Warren in Western NSW, Hugh has ambitions to be a holistic management and whole farm planning consultant.
“I developed a whole farm plan for the property I was working on and they are still using it” Hugh explained, “I have since developed a few more plans from the skills that I learnt through the RuralBiz course.”
Hugh completed the Diploma of Agriculture and is now studying a Degree in Ecological Agricultural Systems. “The Diploma helped ease me back into study and has made my transition into full-time study much easier”.
Hugh found the on-line classes a great way to keep motivated and consistently work through the course. The structure ensured that he kept abreast of the work and paced himself, consistently achieving, yet still offered the flexibility to catch up on classes that were missed.
Hugh found the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process useful; “I had done a lot of informal study over the years but using the RPL process I was able to take advantage of this, do some more study and receive formal qualifications”.
Hugh is looking forward to forging a career in the agricultural industry and he will undoubtedly be appreciative of the initial foundation that was laid by RuralBiz.
