Lindsay George

Name: Lindsay George

Location: Coonamble, NSW

Course(s) Studied: Diploma of Agribusiness Management

While working as a second-in-charge on a cropping property at Coonamble, Lindsay George decided he was interested in looking at other opportunities in the workforce.

With this in mind, Lindsay returned to study and has since completed his Diploma of Rural Business Management, which he is thankful for as it has helped him move forward with his career aspirations.

“I predominantly took this training to advance my career in the agricultural industry,” he said.

“Due to my determination in completing this course I have managed to fulfil my goal by taking on the position of Asset Manager for a new and exciting dry land cropping enterprise.”

Lindsay believes the Diploma of Rural Business Management has added value to the hands-on experience that he already had gained in the industry.

“I’m sure there would be a lot of people out there who would benefit from this.

“I was quite surprised at how much knowledge and experience I had that was relevant to the course I was studying.

“The Diploma course has given me more tools to use not only in the paddock but also the office.”

While many farmers could be concerned about having the time to study, the online and distance training makes it easier for them to complete the courses.

During harvest, Lindsay acknowledges he struggled to get to his study however he was able to revisit the work online.

“If I missed online classes because of farm work I was able to listen to the recordings,” he said.

“The resources are all there so it’s up to the person studying to apply themselves to get the most out of it.

“Like anything you get out what you put in.”

Once Lindsay gets settled in his new position he hopes to do an Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management.
