Face to Face Chemical Card Plus
Face to Face Chemical Card Plus is designed for farmers and agricultural workers to ensure they meet the regulatory requirements for safe and effective on-farm chemical use. The course:
- Provides AQF3 level accreditation for pesticide users, the level recommended for unsupervised application of pesticides.
- Is nationally recognised and remains valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
- Is completed as a single-day workshop that typically runs from 8.00am to 5.00pm with a morning tea and lunch break.
On successful completion you will be awarded the nationally recognised AHCSS00074 Agricultural Chemical Skill Set, which includes the following units of competency:
- AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals
- AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases

Cost and registration
- First time accreditation: $380 per person (GST Exempt)
- Refresher Accreditation: $350 per person (GST Exempt) - you must provide evidence of your previous training (Statement of Attainment or Chemical Card) at the time of enrolment. The date of issue must be no more than 6 years prior (i.e. your Chemical Card has not been expired for more than 12 months)
Participants in NSW who have not previously received funding to complete this course may be eligible for FEE-FREE training under the AgSkilled program.
You MUST provide a Letter of Support with your registration. Download, complete and return the relevant Letter of Support from the following templates:

What to expect
- You will receive a hardcopy Chemical Card Plus workbook and manual to complete.
- Prior to the face-to-face training day, you will be required to complete at home study (up to 8 hours) in your own time before arriving.
- The at home study is essential to ensure the trainer has enough time to teach the rest of the course content on the face-to-face day.
- The face-to-face day typically runs from 8am-5pm with a morning tea and lunch break.
- Assessment for refreshers is the same as for someone accrediting for the first time, however a discounted fee is offered if you are completing as a refresher.
- During the face-to-face training day you will finish the workbook, undertake practical assessments and finalise your written assessment.

Topics Covered
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to:
- safely handle, transport and store agricultural and veterinary chemicals
- read and interpret chemical labels, permits and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
- identify hazards and manage risks when working with chemicals
- prepare chemical mixes accurately and safely
- use general application equipment to apply chemicals for pest, weed, and disease control
- follow workplace procedures and WHS requirements
- minimise risks to people, livestock, crops, and the environment
- clean up, dispose of waste, and store chemicals correctly after use
- complete basic chemical use records and documentation.
