Online Chemical Card Plus


Online Chemical Card Plus is designed for farmers and agricultural workers to ensure they meet the regulatory requirements for safe and effective on-farm chemical use. The course:

  • Provides AQF3 level accreditation for pesticide users, the level recommended for unsupervised application of pesticides.
  • Is nationally recognised and remains valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
  • Can be completed as a full accreditation only, not as a refresher course.
  • Can be completed from the convenience of your home or workplace (students have up to 2 months to complete all course requirements).

On successful completion you will be awarded the nationally recognised AHCSS00074 Agricultural Chemical Skill Set, which includes the following units of competency:

  • AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals
  • AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
Please note: AHCPMG301 - Control Weeds is also available and may be relevant if you intend to meet additional state-specific requirements (e.g. commercial operator licences in Queensland).

  • Course Pre-Requisites
    • Students are required to have sound computer skills. This includes being competent in the use of internet, email, word processing, camera and video functions.
    • Students must complete a literacy, language, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) assessment to a satisfactory level prior to commencing their course.
  • Materials Required
    • Access to an agricultural or horticultural workplace, or a suitable simulated environment, to observe and demonstrate chemical handling and application practices.
    • Computer or laptop with internet access, Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and Adobe Reader to complete assessments and upload evidence.
    • Mobile phone, tablet or camera to take photos or video recordings as evidence of tasks completed in the workplace.
    • Basic chemical handling and application equipment, which may include:
      • chemical storage facilities or cabinets
      • labelled chemical containers
      • measuring and mixing equipment
      • general application equipment (e.g. knapsack, boom or handgun sprayer)
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to chemical use, such as gloves, eye protection, respirators, coveralls and boots, in line with label and SDS requirements.
    • Access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labels and workplace procedures relevant to the chemicals being used.
    • Record-keeping tools, such as chemical registers, spray records or logbooks, either paper-based or electronic.
    • All remaining learning and assessment materials are provided through our online platform, RuralBiz Online. These include readings, videos, templates and assessment documents.
  • Time Required
    • The time required to complete this course will vary depending on your prior knowledge, experience and the time you are able to dedicate to study. As this is a self-paced course, students' progress individually at a pace that suits them.
    • Please allow 1 – 2 working days for your enrolment to be processed prior to starting your course.
    • Students then have up to 2 months from the date of commencement to complete all course requirements.

  • Cost and registration
    • First time accreditation: $380 per person (GST Exempt)
    • Refresher Accreditation: $350 per person (GST Exempt) - you must provide evidence of your previous training (Statement of Attainment or Chemical Card) at the time of enrolment. The date of issue must be no more than 6 years prior (i.e. your Chemical Card has not been expired for more than 12 months)
    COURSE FEE SUBSIDIES:

    Participants in NSW who have not previously received funding to complete this course may be eligible for FEE-FREE training under the AgSkilled program.
