“Coming from a business background I really wanted to learn more about the business-side of agriculture.”
Over the years I have become more involved in supporting my partner with the farm business management side of our operation, whilst also working off-farm with Local Land Services (LLS). With LLS, I began as a Customer Service Officer and then moved into a coordination role for the South-East Customer Service Team. More recently I have become a Senior Biosecurity Officer in a community engagement role where I assist landholders with the transition to electronic identification for sheep and goats.
The skills I have gained throughout my training with RuralBiz have been highly practical and easily applied to our operation, especially at the conclusion of the unit “Develop a farm plan”. I have a much greater understanding about how to best manage our 8,000 hectare property. The course has also enabled me to develop these skills in and around my full-time working life and parental duties. Progression in my career with Local Land Services has certainly been the result of the additional insights and knowledge I have gained by completing the Diploma.
